St John's Christmas - 14 December

Dear friends,

Thank you to Catherine Joughin for a lovely sermon on John the Baptist on Sunday - if you missed it, you can still watch it here.

Thank you also for praying for Discover Advent, which was held in in church yesterday for Elmswell Primary School. Over 70 pupils came to hear the Christmas story and respond in reflection and simple activities. They all loved it and it is our hope and prayer that it will encourage them to look to Jesus this Christmas and in the years ahead.

Tomorrow (Wednesday, 15 December), we meet by the railway crossing at Crown Mill for Carols on the Green at 7:00pm. Please encourage others to come along for this lovely community event where we join with the Baptist Church, Salvation Army band and Open the Book. Mince pies will be available afterwards.

This coming Sunday at 6:30pm is our main Carols By Candlelight service. This is a lovely service and a great opportunity to invite friends who may not usually come to church. We hope to also stream this service on our Facebook page (accessed from the home page of this web site).

A reminder of the Christmas Card board at St John's - to save money and resources giving each other Christmas cards, please feel free to display a card for the whole congregation. You can leave a donation in the pot for what may otherwise have been spent. Proceeds will go to Tearfund.

We still have plenty of flyers at the back of church for our Christmas services. Please take and give away to friends or post in your neighbours' letterboxes.

The church prayer meeting is on Zoom on Saturday at 9:00am for 40 minutes. To join, click or, load Zoom and use Meeting ID: 685 295 1296 and Password: 816262.
