St John's News - 20 July

Dear friends,

I am God now and forever.
No one can snatch you from me or stand in my way.
Isaiah 43:13 (CEV)

I would like to thank Jonathan Ford, Mike Brown and Gavin for leading and preaching over the last couple of Sundays - and, of course, thanks to all our musicians, welcomers, coffee team, wardens, flower arrangers etc who enable our church to be such a friendly and worshipful place. Looking ahead to this coming Sunday, there will be a service of the Lord's Supper at 10:30am, when we will be looking at King Solomon and the Temple of the Living God. Sunday School is now taking a break until September, but there will be a short all age Bible Bite in the service.

Funeral of Richard Arnold - 4 August 11:00am
Some of us will know Richard Arnold, who used to attend St John's sometimes. He particularly enjoyed one of our "Variety and Spice" evenings shortly before the pandemic. Sadly, he passed away on 8 July. His funeral is at St John's on 4 August at 11:00am.

*** STILL VERY IMPORTANT - Safeguarding ***
Basic safeguarding awareness training (previously C0) is mandatory for everyone who has a designated role in the church (e.g. sidespeople, flower arrangers, musicians). However ALL parishioners are encouraged to complete this safeguarding course.

If you are aware you have not done it in the last 3 years, please try to complete the Basic Awareness Course online at It takes about 90 minutes to complete and you receive a certificate at the end. Once completed, please let both Alex Cubbitt (, our safeguarding officer and myself know.

You may need to register or reset your password if you have forgotten it.

We will let you know of any alternative in-person courses when we can.
