St John's News - 4 October

Dear friends,

As for me, I can only fall on my knees and pray that the Lord Christ,
who had died for me, might have His own way with me – that it might be worth
His while to have done what He did and what He is doing now for me.
To my Elder Brother, my Lord and my God, I give myself yet again, confidently,
because He cares to have me and because my very breath is His.
George MacDonald

Thank you so much to all who contributed so generously to our Harvest collection. Stowmarket and Area Foodbank picked it all up this morning and were delighted. Thank you also to those who decorated the church and who helped to make the Bring and Share lunch such a lovely occasion.

Variety & Spice - Saturday 29 October 7:30pm

The evening will consist of music; comedy and poetry all performed by local folk. If you feel able to bring some nibbles and a bottle of wine/soft drink to place on a sharing table that would be welcome.

And finally, a prayer from the Diocese for these times
Loving God, you are always with us,
and give us all we need to be your church in Suffolk.
In these challenging times, as we respond in loving action to those in great need,
help us, we pray, to give as we have received:
abundantly, generously, and joyfully,
that our worship and our service
may bear witness to your Kingdom of unfailing love.
In the name of your Son who gave himself for us,
Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

In Christ,
