St John's News - 15 November

Dear friends,

My command is this: love each other as I have loved you.
Greater love has no one than this:
to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.
John 15:12-13

Sunday's Remembrance Service was a moving occasion and it was lovely to have so many young people from the uniformed organisations and their parents in church. Thank you to everyone for supporting it - if you were unable to make it, you can catch up on our services on YouTube channel:

The defibrillator in the church porch is up and running and registered. In case of an emergency dial 999 to request an ambulance, give your location and request the code to open the cabinet. The machine guides you through what to do, but the short summary video on how to operate it is helpful to watch: click here.

This coming Sunday is the celebration of "Christ the King." The service at 10:30am is a Parish Praise service, with a short celebration of the Lord’s Supper at the end. Tom Hart will be speaking on Jeremiah 23:1-6. Sunday School also resumes after a 2 week break.

On Tuesday 22 November at 8:00pm some of the men from St John's will be having a drink at The Tavern. You are very welcome to pop along.

Please pop along to the Give Hope Traditional Christmas Event on Saturday 10 December (10am-3pm) at the Blackbourne. This free event offers people the chance to come along to find a gift for someone special, to enjoy carols sung by the local choir, a hot drink, mince pie and a biscuit. There’s also a bouncy castle and activities for children.

Also, as well as supporting the Stowmarket Area foodbank, please also support the "Give Hope Shelter" initiative, which offers local residents in need food and other basic necessities. It operates at the Tavern on Mondays and Fridays from 10am to 1pm. Simply turn up during these times to donate non-perishables. There is a real need at the moment. Thank you.

Finally, the weekly church prayer meeting is on Zoom on Saturday at 9:00am for 40 minutes. To join, click or, load Zoom and use Meeting ID: 685 295 1296 and Password: 816262.

In Christ,
