St John's News - 24 January

Dear friends,

Since you cannot do good to all,
you are to pay special attention to those who,
by the accidents of time, or place, or circumstances,
are brought into closer connection with you.
Augustine of Hippo

We are very grateful again to the Ukulele band for their concert at St John's on Saturday and also to everyone who came to support it. We raised around £400 (before gift aid).

If you missed Sunday's service, please catch up on our YouTube channel:

If any ladies in the congregation would be interested in going to the Cambridge Women's Bible Conference, it's on Saturday 4th March, 9.30 - 4.00 at Eden Baptist Church. Teaching will be from Micah, with three teaching sessions from the front and a choice of seminars. The cost is £10 for the day. Lisa Goodridge and Rachael Hart are planning to attend, but would love to go with others from St John’s. Do book a ticket and let us know if you can join us. Details are here.

The main Bible reading this coming Sunday is John 20:20-26, where Jesus prays for unity amongst his followers. Although it is a "parish praise" service, as a sign of our unity we shall have a short celebration of the Lord's Supper at the end. Please stay on for this and come forward, even just for a prayer, to demonstrate the unity we have as God’s holy people. You don’t need to be an Anglican to come forward, just a person who feels called to follow the Lord Jesus as part of his family.

The weekly church prayer meeting is on Zoom on Saturday at 9:00am for 40 minutes. To join, click or, load Zoom and use Meeting ID: 685 295 1296 and Password: 816262.

On Tuesday 31 January at 8:00pm some of the men from St John's will be having a drink at The Fox. You are very welcome to come.

Finally, we have received a lovely photograph of Phearak, the boy we sponsor in Cambodia, receiving his Christmas present from St John’s. If you wish to help us sponsor Phearak's education, please let our treasurer, Mike Schofield (, know.

In Christ
