St John's News - 26 November 2024

Dear friends,

Will not God bring about justice for his chosen ones,
who cry out to him day and night? Will he keep putting them off?
Luke 18:7

If you missed Sunday’s service, you can catch up our YouTube channel. The main reading highlighted the important of praying together as a church. You are very welcome to join the online weekly church prayer meeting, which is on Zoom on Saturday at 9:00am for 40 minutes. You do not need to pray out loud – we’d love to see you. Join us by clicking here or, load Zoom and use Meeting ID: 685 295 1296 and Password: 816262.

Please remember the family and friends of Dorothy Bridge in your prayers at this time. Dorothy passed away last Thursday and, although we will miss her, we can take comfort that she is now with her saviour.

Next Sunday is Advent Sunday. There will be a short Communion service at 9:00am. At 10:30am, the main family all age service will be led by Tom and Rachael Hart and will focus on the theme of Advent.

Advent for All - A Zoom Advent Course - Tuesdays 26 Nov, 3 Dec, 10 Dec, 17 Dec 7pm for 45 mins
Peter is running a 4 session Advent series for the diocese on Zoom, delving into the riches of John 1 vs 1-18. These inspiring verses will lead us through Advent in a different way. Come and reflect on how the eternal Word made flesh makes all the difference to our lives. To join online, please email elmswellrector@gmail.com to receive the Zoom link.

Our main carol service, Carols by Candlelight is on 15 December at 6:30pm. This is a great service to invite people to and I am thrilled that the Song Circle choir will be joining us. Mulled wine and mince pies will be served in the Church Room afterwards.

In Christ,

Peter
