St John's News - 3 December 2024

Dear friends,

For my eyes have seen your salvation,
which you have prepared in the sight of all nations:
a light for revelation to the Gentiles,
and the glory of your people Israel.
Luke 2:30-32

If you missed the Advent Sunday service, you can watch it on our YouTube channel.

Next Sunday's 10:30am service includes the Lord’s Supper and the main Bible reading is John 1:1-4. Sunday School will be concluding their time looking at King Solomon.

Our main carol service, Carols by Candlelight is on 15 December at 6:30pm. This is a great service to invite people to and I am thrilled that the Song Circle choir will be joining us. Mulled wine and mince pies will be served in the Church Room afterwards.

Carol Singing outside the Wesley with the Salvation Army band will take place on Wednesday 18 December at 6:30pm. Mince pies and mulled wine will also be in abundance there.

The funeral of Dorothy Bridge will take place on Friday 20 December at 2:00pm.

A reminder that there are 2 Christmas cards on the notice board at the front of church. Rather than spending lots of money on cards for each other, please sign these with a greeting to the church family and place a donation with the money saved in the basket, which will go to Tearfund.

There is also a card for Phearak, our sponsored child in Cambodia, at the back of church – please do sign this with a Christmas greeting.

You are very welcome to join the online weekly church prayer meeting, which is on Zoom on Saturday at 9:00am for 40 minutes. You do not need to pray out loud – we’d love to see you. Join us by clicking here or, load Zoom and use Meeting ID: 685 295 1296 and Password: 816262.

In Christ,

Peter
