St John's News - 3 August 2026

Dear friends,

Peter replied, ‘Repent and be baptised, every one of you,
in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins.
And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
Acts 2:38

Last Friday, we were presented a cheque for £1000 towards the cost of the defibrillator located in the church porch. The money was raised by our wonderful local firemen and ex-firemen who run the bingo. We are extremely grateful for their generosity.

If you missed Sunday's all age service on the theme "Baptism: what is it all about?" it is available on the YouTube channel.

The main 10:30am service next week includes the Lord's Supper and we will be thinking about the question: "How can I be sure Christianity is true?" During August, we are reflecting on common questions people ask. These will be great services to bring a friend along to - please think and pray about who you could invite to these services.

All are welcome at Messy Church tomorrow at 10:30am, where we will be hearing how Jesus gave sight to a man born blind. Pray for families to come along to enjoy our hospitality and to hear the good news of Jesus.

The online weekly is on Zoom on Saturday at 9:00am for 40 minutes. To join, click here or, load Zoom and use Meeting ID: 685 295 1296 and Password: 816262.

The Suffolk Historic Churches Trust Ride & Stride takes place on Saturday 12 September. If you are able to spend an hour or two at the church to welcome visitors, please sign up on the rota at the back of church. If you would like to take part in the sponsored cycle ride or walk to raise money for Suffolk Churches, information is also at the back of church.

Remember we have a box at the back of church for food donations for the Stowmarket Area Foodback.

In Christ,

Peter
