St John's News - 29 June 2021

Dear friends,

One of the most precious and important promises God makes in the Bible is that he seeks to live in close fellowship with us as his people. We see this right through Scripture - for example, in Ezekiel 37:27, the Lord says "My dwelling-place will be with them; I will be their God and they will be my people."

This promise is fulfilled in part now - Jesus has visited us and has bestowed on us the gift of his Holy Spirit. He dwells in the hearts of his followers right now and declares that we are his people who have the light of eternal life. What a precious gift and privilege! And yet, as we saw on Sunday, there is still so much darkness around - both inside us and in the world around. The day is coming, however, we "will see his face and his name will be upon our foreheads. There will be no more night. We will not need the light of a lamp or the light of the sun, for the Lord God will give us light. And we will reign for ever and ever." (Revelation 22:5).

Hang in there - the day is dawning.
