St John's News - 31 August 2021

Dear friends,

What an emotional day Sunday was! In the morning, Gavin spoke about the amazing love of Jesus, who came into the world not to condemn but forgive and call us to leave our lives of sin and follow him. His sermon is well worth listening to - you can find the service here.

The morning was, of course, also emotional as we said farewell to the Okeke family and prayed for them as they leave us for pastures new. This farewell continued into the afternoon as we enjoyed an excellent afternoon tea at the Wesley. Thank you to all who made it such a lovely occasion. Also the family would like to convey their heartfelt thanks for the very generous gift from the congregation - over £1000 was raised.

A verse for Ernest and the family as they depart:
The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.
Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged. (Deuteronomy 31:8)

This coming Sunday, Sunday 5 September sees a short 9am Communion service and our main All Age service is at 10:30am. We will be reflecting on what it means to be the body of Christ here in Elmswell, as we look to rebuild following the past 18 months. As a loved and valued member of Christ's body, please do come along to this special service.

The church prayer meeting is on Zoom on Saturday at 9:00am for 40 minutes. To join, click https://us04web.zoom.us/j/6852951296 or, load Zoom and use Meeting ID: 685 295 1296 and Password: 816262.

Also do book the 1 October 8:00pm in your diaries - John Evans' band, Nutz 'n' Boltz will be doing a fundraising concert for St John's in the church. It promises to be a great evening.

Best wishes,

Peter
