St John's News - 14 June

Dear friends,

"Why should any of you consider it incredible that God raises the dead?"
Acts 16:8

This coming Sunday, 19 June at 10:30, we will be looking this remarkable comment in Acts 26. This is our great hope as Christians - eternal life! Do come and find our more.

Sunday school will meet again in person this Sunday at 10:30am during the service, as well on Zoom at 9:30am. If you would like your children to come to the in-person one, please let Lisa (legoodridge@gmail.com ) know.

If you missed the service last Sunday, it is available to watch it here.

Church Tidy
Please come along to the church on Saturday 25 June from 10:00am until noon to help tidy the churchyard and church. There will be a range of jobs to be done both inside and out. Your support will be greatly appreciated

Sunday 26 June – Book your place at the church barbecue
On 26 June, Tom Fifield will be speaking about his work in Ethiopia at 10:30am. The service will be followed by coffee and then the church barbecue. Please see Lisa to book your place - the cost is £7.50 (children aged 4 and over £3.00; under 4 free).

Sunday 10 July
On 10 July, Rev Jonathan Ford from Christ Church Moreton Hall will be leading and preaching. He will also talk about his novel, "A Day in the Death of Charlie Vaughan." I read it recently (something to do during my COVID isolation) and found it both enjoyable and though-provoking. Bishop Mike describes it as "a rip-roaring roller coaster ride of a story which captures the imagination from the start. Jonathan appears to have blended something of the early monks and nuns of the desert and C.S. Lewis in his thinking and writing, and the combination makes for a vivid, colourful narrative that is both provocative and insightful - recommended!"

Prayer Meeting
The weekly church prayer meeting is on Zoom on Saturday at 9:00am for 40 minutes. To join, click https://us04web.zoom.us/j/6852951296 or, load Zoom and use Meeting ID: 685 295 1296 and Password: 816262.All welcome.
