St John's News - 28 March

Dear friends,

May God bless the one who comes in the name of the Lord!
From the Temple of the Lord we bless you.
The Lord is God; he has been good to us.
With branches in your hands, start the festival
and march around the altar.
You are my God, and I give you thanks;
I will proclaim your greatness.
Psalm 118-26-28 (Good News Bible)

These verses remind us that it is Palm Sunday, this weekend. There will a short celebration of the Lord's Supper at 9:00am. The main service at 10:30am is our monthly family service and will include the baptism of Oscar Greathead.

If you missed Sunday's service, catch up on our YouTube channel.

Next week is Holy Week and includes some special services. Our Maundy Thursday Communion is on Thursday 6 April at 7:30pm, when Peter will be looking at how Easter weekend fulfils the prophecies of Isaiah 53. The following morning, we gather as Christians Together In Elmswell at 10:00am on the Green (by the station) for our Good Friday outdoor service with hot cross buns. On Easter Sunday, the service is Family Communion and is at 10:30am.

You may have heard that Florrie Heller recently passed away. Florrie was a dearly loved member of our congregation until she moved to Cedrus House Care Home before lockdown. Her funeral takes place on Wednesday 5 April at 3:30pm at Abbey Chapel, West Suffolk Crematorium and all are welcome to attend.

The Ixworth and Elmswell Ladies choir is singing a concert at Pakenham church at 7:00pm on Saturday 1 April. All welcome. Tickets are £5 on the door, children under 16 free.
