Church tidy / Psalms in Suffolk / Seminar on the election

Dear friends,

For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain.
Philippians 1:21

If you missed either the service on Sunday when Gavin preached on Philippians 1:12-26, please do catch up on our YouTube channel.

There are 2 services this coming Sunday. There is a shorter service of Holy Communion at 9:00am (with no hymns). At 10:30am, our main service is the all age family service, when we will be hearing about Samson.

Churchyard tidy - 8 June 10am
Please come along to the church on Saturday 8 June from 10:00am to noon to help tidy the churchyard and church. There will be a range of jobs to be done both inside and out. Your support will be greatly appreciated. If you have a strimmer, hedge trimmer or lawnmower you can bring along, it would be most helpful.

Psalms in Suffolk - 15 June 2024 10am to 3pm Holy Trinity Church, Bungay
This is a great event being organised by a group of us in Suffolk. It is a day on why and how to sing the Psalms, with lots of singing. This is a day for everyone - whether or not you call yourself 'musical'. We will be singing the psalms in a variety of styles. The emphasis is on enthusiastic participation rather than musical perfection. No prior knowledge of music is required; once you have booked you will be given exclusive access to a Psalm Learning Page to help you prepare. As we gather to sing the psalms you will be encouraged and emboldened by the power of the words and the strength of the singing.

This is also a day of discovering the rich Jesus-centred theology of the psalms. The psalms show us how to rejoice in Christ our Saviour and to know his comfort during seasons of lament and sorrow. As we sing the psalms the message of Christ dwells richly in us.

There will be regular breaks through the day. Please bring your own packed lunch. We suggest a donation of £10 per adult. Children are encouraged to attend and there is no cost for them. Please pay on the day with cash. More infor here: https://www.psalmroar.org/suffolk

Seminar on the election - 13 June 7:45pm Wetherden Baptist Church
Pete Killingley from CARE (Christian Action, Research, and Education) will be speaking on "Why vote and who to vote for" at Wetherden Baptist Church on Thursday 13 June at 7:45pm. This event will help us explore the Biblical principles behind government and elections, and then to relate those principles to the present day political situation. The seminar will NOT to tell us who to vote for, but will outline the biblical teaching on voting, and how it shapes our engagement at the ballot box.

If you wish to attend, please let me know (elmswellrector@gmail.com), so I can pass on an indication of numbers.

In Christ,

Peter
